Dorchester District Two invites you to attend a parent education series
Dorchester District Two and the Greater Summerville/Dorchester Chamber of Commerce are hosting a parent education series this summer to provide information on the current academic curriulum in English language arts and math. There will be six sessions covering learning expectations in kindergarten through 12th grade. The fourth session will be Tuesday, July 29, at Miles Road Baptist Church, 816 Miles Road, Summerville, SC 29485, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on the topic of ELA Elementary: "Learn to Read - Read to Learn." Plan to attend to gain a deeper understanding of current academic programs in your children's classrooms.

Green Wave Girls Tennis
The Summerville varsity girls tennis team will hold official tryouts on Friday August 1st. All rising 7th & 8th graders that are living in the SHS attendance zone are eligible. All participants must have a current physical dated April 1 or later in order to try out. The proper physical form is available on the SHS website under athletics/tennis. Participants need proper tennis shoes and a tennis racket. More information will be available later in the summer on the girls tennis web page on the SHS website. Contact coach David Long at email@example.com with any questions or if you are interested in participating in the optional out of season workouts in June and July.
Started in collaboration with Google, iTEAMS is the Innovation, Technology & Entrepreneurship Among Middle Schoolers summer experience. iTEAMS is a day camp that inspires students to pursue careers in the fields of computer science, technology and entrepreneurship through hands-on, team-based projects. During iTEAMS, students will select from one of the following challenges: developing mobile apps using App Inventor, designing video games using Alice 3D software, or creating an interactive object using the MaKey MaKey invention kit.
Who is eligible to apply?
Rising 7th and 8th graders and teachers in iTEAMS counties
Program Dates and locations for Summer 2014
8:30 AM - 3:30 PM daily, lunch will be provided
Dorchester County - July 14-17 - Oakbrook Middle School

The essay: Why do you want to attend iTEAMS Summer Camp? ***We recommend students write their essay in a WORD document prior to beginning the application so it is easy to cut and paste it into the application.
